Hi y'all,
Someone mentioned awhile ago about the following error:
FATAL ERROR AT SCRIPT LINE 343
Unable to open destination file
I tried the suggestion of giving an explicit path for [SysPath], but
to no avail. After about two days of tinkering around with winsetup.inf,
I gave up and installed the Windows stuff manually. I think the reason
is because I have DR DOS, as I haven't seen many posts with this
particular problem.
Anyway, I recently got the AIL drivers and first tried them on Dune 2.
After running the patch, I tried to run the game. Ultramid seemed to
take a long time to run, I hope that's normal. But when I got to the game,
only digitized stuff came out, no music. I read the docs again and
found that I needed 600k to run. Since only half of Ultramid loaded high, I
had only 575k left. I was left with the assumption that no music came out
because I didn't have enough memory. Also, I gave the game 1700k of
extended memory, is that too much? I would dearly love to use some of
that memory for a disk cache.
Yesterday I d/led 1gate14.zip from klingon. Since this game needed
only 570k,I assumed that music would come out. Well, I assumed wrong. All
I got was a lot of pops and static, but no music. Can anyone point out the
reason? Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I just have two quick requests. Could who ever is in charge of the
archives please update the 00Index.ALL file. I have to request all my files
via ftpmail or the digest server, and it is imperitive that I know exactly
what is there before I request it. Also, could someone please archive (I
mean zip/arj/lha/(or otherwise compress/combine) volumes 2 and 3 of the
digest. Requesting each file individually would be a real pain (unless
someone knows how to request a large number of files via ftpmail/digest
server) Thanks a lot!

I vaguely remember seeming something about this a while back but would just
like to clarify; how well does BAK work with the GUS? I notice it supports
GM and SB. Will ULTRAMID and SBOS provide good results?

Does anybody have the SBOS setting for either Crystal Dreams I or Lunatic.
I've tried several settings but all I get is static sound. The pictures seem
to be okay though.

I just installed p669v105. It looked very good, I liked what it did and it
sounded just like the old 669 player (the quickie hack). BUT...
When i try to quit the program it locks up and the last tone being played never
stops. What is wrong? Is it me, or is it a general fault?
My settings are 220,1,1,11,7.

Hello
I am wondering what/where my GUS upgrade disks are, or what is up?
I have sent my registration card to the new address, emailed john,
and don't know if I am on the registered list or not. How can one
find out if they are? I have had my GUS since middle of April.
Sent in registration in May.
Thanks alot for any info you can pass along!

Now that NT has been released to manufacturing at Microsoft (and I'll have my
FCS copy within a week or two (or so they say ;-)), when might we expect a GUS
driver for NT?

Subject: Oh no! not another tremstr question!!
Message-ID: <9307291706.AA04654@smos.bc.ca>
Well, I finally got the infamous tremstr patch error from playmidi
(cause I got a hold of awesome.zip). I looked back through the digests
for the fix, which was to change the ultrasnd.ini entry from
44=tremstr.pat to 44=marcato.pat.
I had a look in my ultrasnd.ini: No sign of tremstr.pat on Any
patch number. Hmm. Maybe I have an old ultrasnd.ini lying around
somewhere.... (where is unix find when I need it!!) Nope: can't find
any spare ultrasnd.ini files... Hmm, I though midi files specified patches
by number, but I'll look into the midifile (g.mid FYI). I use mf2t to turn
g.mid into g.txt. Nope, no name tremstr in there, just a patch call to
patch 44..
OK, I create a new midi file of one note using winjammer with a patch
change event of 44, yep, It works fine in winjammer, playmidi blows up on it.
Finally, I go into c:\ultrasnd\midi .. No tremstr.pat here. OK, try
cp marcato.pat tremstr.pat (where are unix soft links when I need em??)
That fixes it!!!
So the remaining question: why does playmidi insist on the name
tremstr.pat when patch 44 is requested? Is the name tremstr built
into playmidi.exe?? or is there another file somewhere hiding with
tremstr in it!!
I'm only curious at this point since I found a workaround.

Someone says they get Syndicate to work with SBOS 2.05.
I can't get it to work with SBOS 2.08. Any ideas?
What are the option switches?

[This message is being sent to all the lists I maintain. If
you are multiple lists, you're going to get multiple copies. Live
with it.]
I'm going to be out of town (at SIGGRAPH, actually... if you
are going, let me know... it would be nice to meet some of you) and
away from the mailing lists until August 9th. You folks are all big
grown-up list users now, so Mom and I decided it's okay to leave you
alone for the week. (Now watch us get hauled off to jail like that
couple from Chicago. :) The emergency numbers are by the phone,
there's a lot of food in the pantry...
If any trouble comes up, deal with it. If anything REAL bad
comes up, mail to postmaster@dsd.es.com. This is only in the worst
case scenario though; their solution will be to just shut all the
lists down until I get back (and then I might not be allowed to turn
them back on).
Have fun while I'm gone. You can have friends over, but no
big parties. Ahem... Mike? Yes, you. Mr. Biesele. Pay attention.
(Inside joke. Most of you can just ignore it.)
